Years

Time | Days | Months | Years

In the old days, they described years by how many had passed since a big event that the other person would know of, for example four years after this or that battle. Nowadays some heathens use the term EFVS (‘etter Vinlands fyrste sjå’). This counts the years after the first sighting of America on the 9th of October in the year 1000 by Leiv Eiriksson and was ‘invented’ by Geirr Tveitt.

Following this way of expressing a date, the 1st of January 2013 would be the 19th day of Mörsugur in 1013 EFVS.
