In this episode, I’ll talk about the magic use of berries, how berries can be magical. You’ll hear about the outcome of one of my cartomancy readings. I’ll talk about the uses for hyssop, and I’m going to give you a prompt, something you can do easily and in a short amount of time, to get some magic into your day.

Magical Berries
Most of the countries on the northern hemisphere have the berries I’m going to talk about today. They are usually easily available in the wild, so you don’t have to go and buy them.
Blueberry (Vaccinum myrtillus)
Blueberries and blueberry bushes are used under the door mat to keep intruders and evil at a distance. Blueberry pie or porridge is eaten when you’re under psychic attack because this puts the protection inside the body and increases the efficiency.
Raspberry (Rubus idaeus)
A branch is hung at each door and window to protect the home and it’s occupants. It’s served as part of a love-meal to the beloved. Leaves are carried by pregnant women to reduce the pain involved in pregnancy and childbirth.
Bearberry (Arctostaphylos uva-ursi)
Bearberry is used for healing, money, protection and psychic workings. Carry it to increase your power, burn it with psychic incense when meditating.
Black Crowberry (Empetrum nigrum)
Crowberry stimulates awareness of cycles of light and darkness, internally and externally. It enables us to hold these variations with respect and gratitude, rather than with attachment or aversion.
Juniper (Juniperus communis)
Juniper is used for protection against accidents, harm and theft, psychic protection and cleansing. It’s said that if a few fruits are placed under the rug, no unpleasantness will enter your home connected to property or possessions. The berries are also used to attract lovers once dried and worn as a charm.
For some of these berries, the harvest season has ended in some areas, but you’ll at least have something to think about for next season.
Is this project worth going for?
Someone who is running a business here in Norway asked me if the project she’s thinking of is worth going for. The playing cards had a couple of things to say about that.
You’ve ended a phase in life related to intellectual things and you’re about to start another. The foundation for future success has been laid and it’s time to start something new or at least to fortify what you’re doing. This is the right time to throw yourself into new projects but make sure that the old ones are properly finished first. It’s important that nothing lies unfinished when you get started on the new project. Don’t be content with what you’ve achieved in the past – new chances and opportunities lie and wait right in front of you!
A letter or a document will reveal something very important, but you should be very careful with what you put on paper right now. Great consideration is needed to secure that things get off to a good start. If you make the right decisions your hopes will be fulfillled. If you haven’t already made practical plans for the future now’s the time to do it. If a new plan is to be realized it will take both physical and mental effort. The plans you make should be made as simple and concise as possible and afterwards, you shouldn’t let them out of your sight until the goal is achieved.
It’ll get a lot easier to communicate with others so if you have something special in mind the time to get it out is now. A journey that combines work and pleasure will be good for you. An opportunity will soon arise to express your artistic talents. This can have long-term consequences and lead to success or even fame. Get the overall picture of your desires and do something to realize them! Don’t be afraid to explore new roads, especially if they lead away from the everyday problems.

Herb of the week: Hyssop
Waxing Gibbous Moon
The waxing moon is for constructive magic, the kind of magic that adds something. For example love, wealth, success, luck, courage, and health. It’s especially good for drawing, increasing, or growth spells.
This is a time of fast-paced growth that can be harnessed to maximize the power of the coming Full Moon. Or, if you’re low on energy, you can pull the energy in toward yourself, giving you an added boost of energy and confidence. It also strengthens the properties of plants.
Today’s prompt: If you live where there are some, go out and pick some of the season’s berries today. Learn about the ones you picked and use them for magic or a treat.
That’s it for me for today. Thanks for listening to the Witch in the Valley Podcast. The next episode will, among other things, be about flowers you shouldn’t use. If you have any questions, just reach out to me at linda@lindaursin.net Remeber to rate and subscribe to the podcast on iTunes.
