The Art Witch Blog

I’m a mythical artist, photographer, designer, intuitive and all-around creative based in the Norwegian mountains and this is my blog.

This is where I share my creative expression and do my best to inspire, empower, share tips and information, and give the occasional kick in the butt so you can have a more fulfilling life. You’ll also find a lot of art, some behind the scenes and works in progress, as well as some strong opinions, and a swear word or two. If you enjoy the posts, please share them.

Samhain or Alvablot

Samhain or Alvablot

Since The Pagan Blog Prompt for this week is Samhain, I thought I'd sum up my plans for this year's Alvablot. For those who haven't noticed, I follow the old Norse tradition, so I don't really celebrate Samhain. I celebrate Alvablot at this time of year. Now, this is...

Alvablot Altar

Alvablot Altar

Last night my daughter and I decorated the Alvablot altar. She thought it was lots of fun, but was in a hurry to go to the bathroom, so we didn't spend a long time doing this. On the altar, there's a pumpkin lantern, a piece of orange fabric, pictures of my deceased...

Night Photos and Friends

Night Photos and Friends

I really need some tips on a subject for November. Help me out here will you! I've been thinking about it, and I've been coming up with absolutely nothing. Since I didn't have a clear idea for a subject today either, I took some more pictures on my way to work, some...

Has your path changed since you discovered Paganism?

Has your path changed since you discovered Paganism?

This is a time of change, so I find it appropriate to discuss such subjects. That's why I thought I'd ask a question today. In what way has your path changed since you discovered Paganism? You can answer in a comment or on your blog (or something similar) and then add...

Costumes

Costumes

As I've mentioned before, I'm making two costumes during the next year or so. I'm making one Viking Age costume and one 14th century costume. Here's the fabric I'll be needing: 16 meters of uncoloured, lightly bleached linen 4 meters of thin, yellow wool 12 meters of...

Photos and a round-up

Photos and a round-up

Today I started my day with a workout at my Physical Therapist, as I do every Tuesday and Thursday. On my way there, I took some photos. I just had to take another picture of the moon. Just to show the difference an hour makes, I took another picture while I was going...

Moon Photos

Moon Photos

One of the advantages of this season being so dark is that I get to see the Moon even if I can't stay up late. Here are some Moon photos I took yesterday. The first ones I took just after getting home (around 4:30 OM), the others are around 7 PM. The pictures don't do...

Brrrr…It’s cold

Brrrr…It’s cold

Today we woke up to an outside temperature of -9,9 degrees Celsius. That's 14.18 degrees Fahrenheit. Let's just say we had to find our winter coats fast 🙂 Yup, it feels cold when you're not used to it I've been thinking about what I'm going to post about when I'm...

Late because of an accident

Late because of an accident

Yesterday, we got home about 45 minutes later to work than usual because of an accident. It looked really bad, one of the people were stuck, but fortunately, the three people involved suffered only mild injuries. Here's the news article, if you're interested:...

Samhain art project for kids

Samhain art project for kids

Today I thought I'd provide a Samhain art project for young children. If you go outside, I'm sure you can find a lot of fallen leaves today. At least some of those will still be dry. Pick a few with different shapes, and bring them inside. Make sure they have strong...
