There’s something very important that most adults skimp on. A form of self-care that often gets forgotten. You might guess that I’m talking about sleep, but I’m not.

The ultimate self-care most adults skimp on is to play. And I don’t mean playing with your kids to keep them entertained. I mean playing for playing’s sake, just to have fun. That’s something most adults forget to do. Some forget it entirely, others do it on rare occasions.
Today is a great day to play, it’s Friday after all.

Go and do something fun, just for the Hel of it!

My fun thing for today is intuitive painting; painting with no plan at all. What’s yours?

PS. I didn’t misspell Hell, I meant to write Hel.

Yes to having fun and playing every day, I good reminder as I can get bogged down in detail and forget that I am meant to be having fun
    great reminder thank you

My pleasure 🙂 We could all use a reminder of this now and then

  2. Deanna Heiliger

We get so wrapped up in our daily tasks that we DO forget to play. I will play today, thank you for the reminder! 🙂

I love my inner child! And yes, we are often getting far too serious. Sillyness is vastly underrated, as I’m fond of saying 🙂

    • Linda Ursin

Me too 🙂 Yes we are. It’s underrated, and a lot of fun 🙂

Linda! I so agree with you, but I guess I’m lucky because I can kid myself that I’m working whilst at the same time I’m drawing shapes and colouring in = painting! 🙂

Linda, you are so right! Play is a really hard one for me. It’s more like I’m either working, or doing something good for me (the yoga class I’m going to in a couple of hours) or shutting down and watching tv. Somewhere in there is play. Hooray for my weekly mah jongg games and the occasional other card games I play. Now that’s fun! And I’m thinking it’s getting to be time for another trip to Harbin Hot Springs. Hmmmm….

    Thanks for the inspiration!

That is fun 🙂 I play cards with my daughter a couple of times a week. But I guess my major playtime is my studio time.
      Hot Springs sounds lovely

Good reminder Linda! (though sleep would have been good too 🙂 I try to play with my daughters joining them in their games. I am lucky they bug me a lot to play so this way I’m actually doing it 🙂

    • Linda Ursin

Sleep is good too, but I wrote about that a while ago 😀 My daughter does that too
