Which holidays do you plan to celebrate this winter?
I celebrate the return of the sun at the winter solstice (Yule for some) with good food and drink, Jul (we don’t call it Christ Mass here, never have) with my family to honour the tradition of my ancestors, and Midwinter Blot or the end of Jul at Hoggunott in January. It’s one of the things that help me get through the cold and dark season.
What’s your preference?
Do you celebrate one, perhaps Yule, or all that fit you and your family?
Celebrating the three major heathen holidays, a couple of smaller ones, the occasional full or dark moon, and a couple of holidays from my ancestral tradition is part of the true me, part of who I truly am. Taking this time for me, helps me focus on being me and not always what everyone else might want me to be.

I’m celebrating the Winter Solstice myself (Yule), and it is a challenge every year – and will be, I suspect, for as long as I’m still an employee – to find the time for the morning part of it, which consists of greeting the rising sun. This year, solstice morning is a Friday and so I’ve decided to celebrate not the eve of the solstice, but the solstice itself, greeting the sun when it comes up on Saturday, the first day that’ll be a few seconds longer.
Your breakthrough session sounds amazing, this kind of thing is very powerful!
Finding or making time is a challenge for all of us I think. Sounds like a good adaptation.
Thanks 🙂
