In these hectic days, it’s hard to set aside time for spirituality.

It’s not only that we do so much more in a day these days, but the season adds even more demands on our time. With all the family holidays at this time of year, there’s little or no time left for spirituality, unless we decide to take it.

If you’re like me, and you don’t have that much time for spirituality, there’ is a solution. It isn’t perfect, but it prevents you from going totally dormant. Make sure you have a visual reminder of your spirituality where you can see it every day. It doesn’t have to be a full altar setup, something small is good enough.

Set aside at least 15 minutes a week for your practice. You won’t have time for an elaborate ritual, but it’s enough for a small Esbat, a meditation, a small magic working, or something like that. Once you get used to setting aside a little bit of time, you will find that you’re able to expand it.  It also helps to establish a morning and evening ritual. First of all, it helps you wake up on time and go to bed on time. But it’s also possible to include spiritual elements in that.

I must admit I go almost dormant  at this time of year. Not so much because of the demands on my time, but also because my body doesn’t like the weather, and the pain drains me. I did a small Alvablot yesterday (my heathen version of All Hallow’s Eve, Day of the Dead, or Samhain), to honor the little people and those who have gone before me. I’m also doing a small one tonight, a Dark Moon Esbat for something I want to increase.

I’m planning something bigger later this year. But the next one will be the group blot on the 9th. I’ve also decided to bring my spirituality into my work, in that I will do a grounding and open up spiritually before talking to a potential or existing client. I have taken steps to keep up a spiritual practice despite it all, and I hope this inspires you to do so as well. If you liked this post, please share it.
