It’s been a while since I wrote about herbs and my garden and I want to tell you what’s going on in my backyard right now. So here’s an update.

After last year’s cold summer, there weren’t many survivors in the herb bed. So I’m taking the opportunity to switch to raised beds to spare my back and knees when doing the gardening. The old herb bed will be removed in favour for two large pallet boxes.

Right now, everything in the garden is in a state of ‘in between’. The herb bed has been emptied and the survivors have been placed in pots, but the pallet boxes aren’t here yet. I have a lot of seedlings waiting in the upstairs kitchen and they’ll have to go outside soon. I really hope we’ll get hold of those raised beds within the next couple of weeks.

The survivors from the old herb bed are Roseroot, Chives and Lungwort. One of the pots outside also has some carrots. I have Cucumber indoors because it doesn’t do well outside here. Then there are the seeds I’ve sown this year that are waiting to go out:

  • Rosemary
  • Peppermint
  • Catnip
  • Sunflower (large)
  • Sunflower (smaller)
  • Nasturtium
  • Canary Creeper Nasturtium
  • Selfheal
  • Checkered Lily
  • Stonecrop
  • Oriental Poppy
  • Pennyroyal
  • Wormwood
  • White Sage

The Cherry tree is in bloom and so are the Roseroot, Lungwort, Narcissus and the Dandelions as well as the Bird Cherries in the neighbour’s pasture. The Pine tree is dusting everything with pollen, and the Goat willow is making it ‘snow’.

Do you have a garden? (even if it’s a few pots it’s still a garden)

What plants do you have?
