When you invest in your own well-being, the importance of which I’ve talked about before, try to support local businesses. I know it’s not always possible, but when you can, it’s a good idea to do so. It’s a way to support the local community, and you might make a valuable connection that will support you too.

I live in a small village, and I do my best to shop locally for products and services. I see a lot of people driving to the city for products and services despite having skilled people locally. If everyone does that, the small communities won’t survive. I want my community to survive and prosper, plus I also like connecting with locals 🙂 So I go local when I can.

When doing this I get:

  • a nice conversation
  • to know about events and other things going
  • make new acquaintances
  • talk about what I do
  • help keep the community alive
  • make use of the local talent

On Monday, I had an appointment for a cut and colour at a local salon, and ended up getting more:

  • cut
  • colour
  • hair treatment
  • scalp massage
  • conversation
  • a cup of tea and chocolate

Another thing about going local instead of going to a big city: It’s often cheaper (if that’s important to you). I got all this for the price of a big city salon haircut, and I would bet I got better service.

Do you support your local community?

Let me know how you do this

I did the same thing two months ago (having my colour done at the hairdresser’s), and like you, I chose a local salon. It feels fantastic, and the local business owners deserve it! The service is outstanding, and so is the feeling of having invested in myself 🙂

I said it before, but I’m saying it again: happy birthday!!
