You may have heard that I’m creating my own Tarot deck. So far, I’ve finished the Aces, and I wanted to show them to you. I hope you like the imagery. I decided on insects as my theme because I like making them. I’m doing my best to use insects that I can associate with the suits, the elements they represent, and the individual cards. That’s why I used larvae and pupae on the Aces. I may throw in an Arachnid or two in the Major Arcana.

  • The Ace of Pentacles has a Ladybug larva.
  • The Ace of Wands has an and guarding pupae.
  • The Ace of Swords has a bee tending to larvae in the hive.
  • The Ace of Cups has a Monarch butterfly larva feeding on a leaf.

I hope to have the deck finished this Autumn, and available for you. It all depends on the method of distribution I end up with. I’m thinking of reaching out to a couple of Tarot publishers.

What do you think of the cards so far?

In all my years of shuffling decks, I’ve never come across an insect tarot before! This looks fun, and a good way to learn about insect life and how it relates to an archetypal perspective. I wish you all good luck in getting your deck published by a great publisher and distributed worldwide.

Thanks Harmony 🙂 I’ll probably have to self-publish to begin with, for then to maybe get it picked up by a publisher.

PS Your commentluv doesn’t work for me, although it does on other sites. I got this error message: “Error. Parsing JSON Request failed. error! not authorized 55f8455e7c” Do you know anything about this? Thanks

      Thanks Sue 🙂 I will

Sometimes my CommentLuv gets caught up on something. Don’t know why, but I’ll reset the settings again.

I love the idea of insect tarot cards. We re surrounded by insects in the world yet we give them so little credit in life.

Is there going to be a book or explanation for each card, I’d like to see the inspiration behind each card. Can’t wait to save up money to get a set.

Yes, there will be 🙂 No lengthy interpretations but a short one, the reason for the choice of the image, and the symbolism for that bug 🙂
