I was contacted by a woman who asked if I’d be interested in giving lectures at their witchcraft course, and it took me off guard. I’d never considered teaching, lecturing or public speaking engagements, but it seems I should. I have a few subjects I feel I have enough information on to actually speak about, but I don’t really consider myself to be “the” expert in any of them:
- Witchcraft/Trolldom
- Rune Magic
- Rune Readings
- Herb Magic
- Herbal Medicine
- Homemade Beauty
- Seiðr
If I were to do public speaking/teaching/lectures/webinars or whatever you call it,
What would YOU like to hear about?
I really need you to tell me this because otherwise I’ll probably get lost in a jungle of books and papers 😀
Have you been teaching anything connected to Paganism? Any experiences and smart advice?
It didn’t seem they had it organized already. It seemed more like they were in the thinking about it stage. But it still got me thinking.
This post is part of the Pagan Blog Project, created by Rowan Pendragon, and the Ultimate Blog Challenge, hosted by Michelle Schaeffer and Michelle Scism.
Go for it! You have a definite knack of explaining things so they make sense. And any subject will do really, you are experienced in so many. Herbs and runes spring to mind, but heck, you’ve been practising your craft for so long, I’m sure any subject will be well worth listening to 🙂
The important thing in a spoken lecture is to built up the train of thought logically, and slowly. Make sure the listeners are following every step, and don’t assume they already know something that’s clear as day to you. That’s basically how I approached it when I was still teaching at university – witchy subjects I’ve only ever taught in my online classes!
Thanks for the confidence 🙂 I’ll set up a page for “public speaking engagements” or whatever I’ll call it, and see if anyone bites.
And thanks for the advice 🙂 When I have the time and energy, I’ll put together a talk on each subject. They can probably be repurposed as ebooks or articles as well 🙂
All of the above? Lol I am particularly interested in seidhr and what it means to other practitioners. Not so much oracular seidhr but rather its other aspects.
Thanks 🙂 It seems to be interesting to several othrs as well. I feel the separation into categoriries, and over focusing on foretelling is a modern construction. Being a solitary practitioner, I don’t really do “oracular” seidr. So I hop I’d have something good for you. You could use the “Travellers in other realms” group to ask. There are at least two more seidrworkers there. And it would give me an angle to write a lecture on 🙂
