Today I want to take a little bit of time to talk about self-criticism, being hard on yourself, and what it’s good for. Well, absolutely nothing in my opinion. Constructive self-criticism is one thing. That can be good if you can take it. But what I’m talking about here is the negative things you tell yourself.

The negative self-criticism, where you put yourself or your creations down, really hurts you a lot more than it brings you forward. What I recommend, is that you try to turn it around. That you try to make something less negative out of it.

As an example: If you’re thinking “I look like shit in this dress“. Instead of thinking that your body doesn’t fit the dress, maybe you should think that the dress doesn’t fit your body.

If it’s a painting, and you’re saying to yourself that “it looks nothing like the picture“. A way to turn that around it to say “I managed to make it unique” or ” I made it my own“.

Try turning things around, turn them on their head, and pretty soon you’ll see that you feel a lot more confident, and a lot stronger.

So let’s stop that negative self-criticism. Just evict that voice from your head.

Where are you putting yourself down? Leave me a comment below.

Love it Linda! Too many women are hard on themselves because we are suppose to conform to what society wants us to be. It’s very sad. Articles like this need to spread like wildfire so women know, it’s ok to be who we are. We just need to embrace ourselves.

    Well said Linda!

Yes I am very critical of myself. I can get a compliment from someone but it doesn’t sink in. I’m not sure if this is weird or not but it’s that self criticism that motivates me to workout.

I loved the video and what a cute video bomber you have in the background :).

Thanks for the pep talk Linda! Hope you’re week started off on a great note hun!

Bonzo is very good at bombing photos and videos 🙂 I shot this while we were out on a walk. I hope this gave you an idea on how to turn it around. I used to have a hard time accepting compliments, but I don’t anymore.
