I finished this serpent painting at the end of last year and I completely forgot to show you the process here on the blog. Sorry about that. But better late than never, here it is:

I used the common European Adder as my reference for this painting because I think snakes have an undeserved bad reputation. It’s the only venomous snake we have here, and it’s pretty much only deadly if you’re very young, allergic or weakened in some way.

The painting could be interpreted as an image of the Adder or as an image of the World Serpent (Jormungandr) from Norse mythology. That’s your choice.

I’m really happy with it. I feel it’s one of my best paintings so far, and I have been told that others think so too 🙂
