I thought I’d show you some pictures from our short Christmas vacation. It’s about 136 km (or 85 miles) one way. Fortunately, my husband did all the driving. When we left home, it was snowing hard, so we expected some snow when we got back.
We stopped to visit the grave of Lilith’s grand uncle, at her request. She left him a letter, a candle, and some white roses. She also had some alone time at the grave. She wanted to do it that way. He was her first ever close encounter with death, and I would say she’s handled it great. She grieves, of course, but since nobody has tried to wrap it up in cotton for her, she understands it.
I’d love to show you the picture I took of her there, but I prefer not to put her picture online.

About two-thirds of the way there, we could see that we were driving into a storm. It wasn’t as bad as it looks, but it got a lot darker, and it snowed heavily.

When we arrived, there was almost no snow on the ground, it almost looked more like April than December. But it’s out on the coast, so they have a vastly different kind of weather than we do here.

Sunrise
It started snowing that night, but it got really cold too, so we didn’t get that much.
On Wednesday, I took some pictures of the sunrise, as I went for a morning walk with Bonzo. It looked like the sky was on fire.

We were supposed to take a long walk on Thursday, but a thunderstorm cut it short. Kind of fitting to get thunder on a Thursday, even though it’s very rare to have thunder and lightning in December.

On our way home, we stopped at a school, so Lilith could play a little, and we could stretch our legs. During the whole trip, Bonzo had to sit in the back seat, instead of the crate because the car was so full of stuff. But he liked it, so it wasn’t a problem. He seems to be enjoying the snow this year too.

Bonzo enjoying the snow
We knew that we’d gotten some snow when we were away. For one because it was snowing when we left, but also because the trees were heavy with snow as we got closer to home.
When we got home, we were greeted by 40 cm of snow (almost 16 inches). Something my husband wasn’t that happy about.

He had to spend an hour clearing it with the snowblower, to get the car into the driveway. Not funny when you’ve just driven 136 km. One of few perks of being disabled; I don’t clear snow anymore (doctor’s orders).

I hope you liked them. If you did, please share this post.
If the share buttons on the left and at the bottom haven’t appeared, just reload the page. If some of the photos seem unclear, I’m blaming the weather 🙂
Love the pictures Linda, especially Bonzo one. He’s getting so big! I hope you had a pleasant vacation!
Thanks 🙂 he’s about 20 lbs too big right now. He gained weight rapidly after we had him fixed. We have him on a diet, but we haven’t been able to get any off yet.
