I finally finished my first pjoning project. It took quite a while because I ran out of yarn midway. I then had to undo the right one when I was almost done because it got too narrow.
But now it’s finally finished. I’m giving these away, but I’m not disclosing the recipient until she gets them.
Pjoning is the Norwegian word for what others might call Bosnian or Slip Stitch Crochet. For a video explanation, check this more recent post with a video from the woman who wrote the book I learned from.
Wow those look nice. I may have to try to learn that someday. 🙂
Thanks 🙂 It isn’t that hard if you can crochet. It’s just slip stitches. The variation is in weather you use the front or the back loop.
Thanks for explaining what pjoning is. I have never heard of it before. It looks lovely.
My pleasure 🙂 and thanks
Thanks for sharing will give that a go,although I’m a knitter not a crocheter.
My pleasure, good luck.
Oh, that is so cool, and they look so comfortable! I’ve never heard of pjoning, even though I do know how to crochet. I have to try this next time! 🙂
I’d never heard of it either, until I was at the village day in 2010. I do my best to try old techniques, so they don’t die out.
That is a really good idea. I bought a book a few years ago, with pictures and information about the old Norwegian hand garments, with the intention of making some of them for myself. But, alas… Never got around to it. The book is pretty, though. You can see it here, although it’s not for sale anymore: http://www.bokkilden.no/SamboWeb/produkt.do?produktId=134326
And I remember some years ago that I made a mental note about purchasing a new book about the old knitting/crocheting techniques too, maybe that was pjoning? Can’t remember! 🙂
Thanks 🙂 I might look for that in Bibsys. I’m pestering librarians as usual 😀
