Often, people who are diving into lifestyle changes don’t get the results they want in the end. One of the main reasons is that they are unable to make the change transition. Some people may not know how to make a change or where to begin. Some people may feel overwhelmed by all the conflicting information about what they should actually do to improve their health.

One thing we know for sure is that change is difficult! Most people don’t welcome change; it’s human nature to resist change. A change requires people to move out of their comfort zone. Nobody likes being uncomfortable! The issue is, most of the time when people decide they are ready for a lifestyle change, they know it’s something that is going to be beneficial for them.

The problem is they get stuck. They don’t know how to move forward. Their old routine has been disrupted. They don’t know what their new routine should look like to get the change they desire so they end up not being able to stick to the challenge to get them the results they want. In order to change you have to be committed to the change and take action.

Without these components, you will stay stuck. When you’re stuck doing the same thing in your routine, you won’t move forward. Without forwarding momentum, you will never produce the results you desire. Do you ever wonder why some people can lose weight at the drop of the hat? Or when some people say they are going to make a change, they are able to? Many people think it’s merely willpower, but that’s not it! It’s their mindset. There are several key ingredients in making your lifestyle transformation a success.

One of the most important, and what I m addressing in this article is the mindset. The reason why most people fail to successfully make a lifestyle change whether it’s a weight loss diet, eating differently for improved health, starting an exercise program and so on, is because they fail to implement the mindset strategy. Without the proper mindset, you are likely to set yourself up for false expectations. Having proper expectations is crucial! I’m going to give you a process that will help you implement the desired change that will help you get the results you’re looking for.

  1. Preparation: Visualize the change. See yourself as the person you have become after the change has occurred successfully. Keep this thought close to you throughout the day.
  2. Embrace the change: Be willing to make the change and embrace it. The change has to be your goal and not someone else’s. Owning the idea will help you to be more committed to making the change. Be willing to take action steps that will get you moving toward your results.
  3. Set proper expectations: You will need to get very clear on setting your goals. Prioritize and choose only 1 or 2 goals that you are highly committed to. The goals should challenge you but be achievable. Write down steps for each goal that will move you toward the end result.

Following this mindset strategy will help you avoid false expectations. It is going to help you prepare for the change, ensure the change is part of your agenda so you can own the idea, and finally help you prioritize your goals to get the outcome you desire.
