I know a number of heathens are also in the LARP (Live Action Role Play) and reenactment communities. But is this true for Pagans as well? And by Pagans, I mean all kinds of neo-pagans that aren’t Asatru although Asatru is also a Pagan religion.

As for myself, I’ve been reenacting a Volva since last year. I made my first outfit last spring and decided to make one that would pass the strictest of rules. The next one will be more “Volva”. I haven’t had time (truth be told, I’ve wasted too much time) to be able to make the new outfit for this year’s Viking Market in Trondheim. But I am going to be there, on my Moose hide, with herbs and rune sticks. If you’d like to see more pictures from last year’s market, go here.

I try to remember to wear a skirt, but only because I want it to be special. It’s not a requirement. I don’t have any ritual clothes (yet).

Thanks. I only designed it, and paid for the fabric. I hired someone to do the actual sewing, because I had tendinitis. She sewed three garments (by hand!), and mailed them to me for the equivalent of $167. I doubt she’ll do it at that price ever again 🙂
I bouht the belt from wulflund.com. The belt bags I did by myself. I didn’t use cat for the fur one, as some might think for that role. I used goat.
I’m trying to portray a Volva from the 900-950 CE. So I have some limitations of jewelry etc. I plan to get a gold ring or two in the future, to represent payment.
I don’t LARP- and I don’t dress up for special rituals- but once I can spend the money I plan on dressing up whenever I go to Renaissance Faires. However, I have a lot of fun looking at the AWESOME outfits some of my friends who do participate in LARP make, I think it’s amazing
