While watching Minecraft videos with my daughter, I came across a concept that might work for my YouTube channel. Something that might help me start making videos again (as well as making more art again) and I want to check with you to hear what you think.

This guy called Grian was doing a ‘building your comments’ series. I thought I might do a ‘making your comments’, i.e. a video series where I draw or paint what people add in a comment. This will become an art series as well as a video series.

Grian is one of the gaming youtubers my daughter and I watch together. I don’t do any proper gaming myself but it can be fun to watch. I have toyed with the idea of building artworks in creative mode, but I haven’t tried it yet.

The post to add comments to would be hosted here on my blog since it too has been in limbo for a while. If you’re on Patreon, I will also do a post here, before the blog post. So you can add your suggestions in one of those places.

If not told otherwise, I will credit the idea to the person adding the comment by the name they add the comment under.

The resulting artwork will be in the video and both the video and image will be posted here on the blog, as well as on social media.

So what do you think?

Does this art series sound like something you’d watch?

Something you’d share?

Things got in the way

I was planning to announce this right after New Year’s and start it right after. But it’s been delayed by unforeseen circumstances. The last couple of weeks have been pretty insane, and I have a limited amount of energy to spend because of the chronic issues I have. This means that this art series is one of several things that have had to be put on the back burner.

First of all, Bonzo has been ill. He got ill on the night between the 23rd and 24th of December and this week, we got the results of a blood test showing that he has pancreatitis. He will be fine but he has to only eat a specific food for a while. He’s also been put on a painkiller and a nausea inhibitor until January 16 or 18 (depending on how he feels).  He started eating a little again today, after having eaten extremely little and not every day since the 23rd.

The second reason is that I had a procedure done at the hospital in the city on the 17th of December which I only knew about a week in advance. They say it can take up to a year before I see the full effects of it but I’m doing well as far as recovery goes.

There was also a family emergency I can’t talk about on the blog, since it involves a person who doesn’t like me talking about them online. Nothing serious but it used up more of what little energy I had.

Thankfully, none of my family members or close friends has Covid. Nobody has contracted it so far and all of the adults are fully vaccinated. My daughter has been vaccinated with the one dose they’ve offered to that age group so far. So this was not Covid related at all, except for the lack of social interaction messing up my energies even more.

So, the art series project has been forced to get postponed for a while. At least until Bonzo’s well again and I regain some energy.

If you have questions about any of the things I’ve mentioned, feel free to ask in a pm or email.

(That’s also a way to sneak in your ideas/comment ahead of time)
