It might sound weird, considering all the diet advice out there, but a cream bun can be a form of self-care. There’s a lot of value in indulging on occasion, in celebrating your successes, even if they’re small, and for me at least, a cream bun is a good way to do that.

The last time I had one was yesterday, after having a pretty busy week of doing readings. If you’re wondering what a cream bun is, it’s a big, wheat bun, filled with vanilla cream (lots of it), and dusted with powdered sugar.

There’s a picture of cream buns on the left, which comes from the facebook page of the village bakery. They say they have the World’s best cream buns, and from the other’s I’ve tasted, I would agree. Now, this isn’t a plug for their business, it’s a prompt for you to indulge and celebrate your successes.

    My usual indulgence is time to veg out on the sofa just reading, reading, reading. Such luxury! I may have a hot chocolate, or some comfort food like potatoes au gratin as well, especially now in winter 🙂
