I went to the library yesterday, to borrow a number of books on herbs, and The Sagas. In one of the herb books, it says that caffeine makes menstrual cramps stronger because it makes it harder for the body to metabolize estrogen. It says menstrual cramps are due to an imbalance between estrogen and progesterone.

It also states that caffeine causes swings in blood sugar levels, which worsen the cramps even more. Since I don’t suffer from strong cramps myself, I thought I’d post this on my blog. Just to get some feedback on this. If you suffer from strong menstrual cramps, have you noticed any correlation between caffeine intake and the level of your cramps? And do you notice any differences due to blood sugar levels changing?
