I thought I’d take a break from the seriousness that has dominated this blog on Mondays the last few weeks. It’s time to talk about something fun. I want to ask you a question:

What awesome books are on your need to read list?

A lot of people have asked me what my favourite awesome books are, but I’d rather tell you about favourite genres or authors. I read way too much to only have a couple of favourite books. How about you?

Do you read fiction? What genres or authors are your favourites?

My favourite genres are:

  • Crime
  • Thriller
  • Horror
  • Fantasy

My favourite authors are:

  • Kathy Reichs
  • Jeffery Deaver
  • Agatha Christie
  • Sue Grafton
  • Dorothy L. Sayers
  • Anne Holt
  • Stephen King
  • Dean Koontz
  • Margit Sandemo
  • Jean M. Auel
  • Terry Pratchett

I’ve been reading books since I was five years old. During my teenage years, I used to read until the early hours and be tired at school. Back before I had a regular job and then became a Mom, I read around 500 books a year. I can still read a regular paperback crime novel in about an hour and a half. I’m now passing this love of books on to my daughter, by reading to her and listening to her reading to me. She’s 6 and reads at the level of a 5th grader. So I’m a proud bookworm Mom.

So what do you read?

Leave me a comment. I’d love some suggestions for good fiction books and authors. The library is running out of books by the favourites that I haven’t read.

PS. My need, to read list is on Pinterest, although it’s far from complete. I also have a long list of books on my Amazon wishlist.

I’ve read J.R.R. Tolkien and J.K. Rowling before, but the other names don’t ring a bell. I’ll have to check them out next time I’m at the library.

    Hi Linda,

Wow that is some list. I’ll have to check them out. I love to read but I don’t have a huge selection of authors. I love reading books written by Stephen King and Dean Koontz.

I love the same genres as you so I know I’ll like those other authors you mentioned. :). Have a great week! Hope you’re feeling better!

I love historical fiction. My favourites are Elizabeth Chadwick, Barbara Kyle and Philippa Gregory. I also read historical biographies, I love Alison Weir.

For light, comic reading, you can’t beat P. G. Wodehouse. Like you Linda, I enjoy crime like Agatha.

For fantasy, I recommend The Earth Angel Traning Academy by Michelle Gordon.

I read some historical fiction as well, especially from the Viking age. The one’s I’ve read have been by Norwegian authors, that I just now can’t remember the names of 🙂
Thanks for the ips and the comment.
