Children can teach us a lot about creativity, these are just a few of them. All the pictures in between are my daughter’s artwork.

  1. Staying within the lines is overrated
  2. Use any colour you want
  3. Play around with what you can find
  4. Create whatever you want, any way you want
  5. So what if you make a mess

If you’re having problems with any of these, go get my book then join the creativity challenge, we start April 1.

I love this! As a prek teacher I fedinitely relate and as a creative right-brained girl I am in agreement. Such fun. Thank you for inspiring!

Great post here, Linda! Thanks for the tips. Even though I’m an artist it is still nice to be reminded!

As a writer and a blogger about happiness, I loved these ideas. Being creative is a great way to increase happiness and children truly are the best teachers.

Yes! These tips are great for my living. My favorite is pick whatever color and go for it. It’s not about what it’s supposed to look like, that is so true, thank you for this amazing metaphor!

Beautiful! How much more easy can it get? Thank you! I often feel so compelled to have everything just perfect, that I forget that sometimes the messy way, the more colorful way, and the “wrong” way is actually the perfect way. Just the reminder I needed as I start out with this fresh, new week.

What great tips, Linda! And I LOVE your daughter’s artwork too. Beautiful! We can definitely learn a lot from kids, and I appreciate this reminder to just create the way I want, the way I feel, WHATEVER that looks like! 🙂

Love, love, love not following rules!!!

Creativity is so much fun. 😀 Especially when I get to be highly intuitive with it.

This is a great list Linda! Great reminders of how to reclaim the creativity that we had as children.

Hi Linda, “So what if you make a mess.” WHOA! Now that one hit me hard. I so often try (as many of us do) to ‘have it all together’. Your post here reminds me that making a mess *IS* part of the creative process!!! Thank you so much for that. 🙂
