This Siamese fighting fish (or Betta Fish) was created as a companion for the Toad and the Painted Turtle and looks like he has a bit of an attitude. It was done in watercolour and finished off with coloured pencil. There’s a touch of gesso there too, for some highlights in the fins.

This Siamese fighting fish (or Betta Fish) was created as a companion for the Toad and the Painted Turtle and looks like he has a bit of an attitude. It was done in watercolour and finished off with coloured pencil. There’s a touch of gesso there too, for some highlights in the fins.

Fighting fish is a popular fish in aquariums and it’s the males who flare their gills and twist their bodies, almost as a dance, when they want to attract a female. They’re territorial so they’re usually not kept together.
