This acrylic landscape painting of a river in the woods is the first in a series of mythological landscapes: Alfheim, the realm of the Elves from Norse mythology. I painted it over a period of a month and a half in acrylics on canvas. In this painting, I wanted the landscape itself to be the focus, not a bird or an Elf. So there are no Elves, and only a tiny bird to add some interest higher up in the picture.
