I have several reasons for not doing a Black Friday sale. The first one is that we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in Norway, and although many shops in this country have adopted Black Friday anyway, I’m not going to. It would feel fake, and fake is not something I want to be.
Seeing the Norwegian Black Friday adverts filling up my mailbox (both the email inbox and the regular mailbox) makes me squirm, to be quite honest. It feels like they’re only doing it to copy other people’s successes. That’s not what I’m about.
The second is that I prefer not to follow the masses, as the M is sometimes silent 🙂 I make my own path.
Another is that I don’t do seasonal sales. I do sales when I run out of space or when I feel like doing one. Like the daily deals and flash sale I’ve done this autumn.
So there 😉

Agree completely. The reason businesses over here do “Black Friday” sales is simply because it gives them another excuse for more marketing, more consumerism. I’m all for promoting my business, but like you I prefer it to be organic, not fake 🙂
