I was supposed to write a bit about how clothes can boost your confidence, and show you some pictures of the new clothes I bought today, but my trip to the city was cancelled due to weather, being tired, and the fact that my friend couldn’t come along. I’m still writing about clothes as a confidence booster, but you’ll have to wait a bit longer for the pictures 🙂
Clothes that fit your body and colours that compliment your skin tone can have a real impact on your confidence. The same is true for baggy t-shirts and sweatpants that don’t fit. I’ve experienced both, the latter for way too long. So I decided a while ago to replace my entire wardrobe with clothes that fit my body and mind. I hope this post might inspire you to do something about yours as well or at least adjust the fit of the clothes you do have if they don’t fit your body.
Lots of women hang on to the jeans or dress they hope to wear again when they drop the weight, sometime in the future. If you do that it’s not going to do you any good. get some clothes that fit the body you have now, love who you are on he outside, as well as the inside, and dropping those pounds will be so much easier. I also see a lot of guys who wear clothes that don’t fit, and I don’t think that’s good for them either. T-shirts that are too tight, Jeans that hang like a sack of potatoes, not to mention the dreaded saggy pants. I just can’t take a man who sags seriously.
I’m not saying we should all dress in suits, I actually don’t like suits. What I am saying, is that women and men should dress in a way that makes them feel great, not just comfortable.
There’s so much truth in what you’re saying, Linda. Looking back I can see times where I’ve been guilty of not putting enough attention into what I’m wearing. It doesn’t make me feel good and having clothes that compliments my body shape and skin tone brings out my confidence. It doesn’t have to be over the top either or uncomfortable. I think that’s what gets us stuck is thinking we have to overdo.
Yes, I think that too, and also being too lazy to care some days. That’s at least true for me 🙂
I am one of those who has a rubbermaid container full of clothes 1 and 2 sizes too small and hopes to get into some day. A month a go, I decided I was going to let them go and embrace who I am now and have been for 2 years now. The containers still sit in my closet. 🙂 YET, they will be gone within 2 weeks, guaranteed!
I agree that what you were can change your ‘tude. A nice fitting outfit that makes you feel good, will put a smile on your face and make you confident. However, when I’m in my hoody and sweats, I feel confident as well. I used to think it was the clothes but I truly think, it’s really …. your state of mind. Regardless of what you’re wearing, if you think your beautiful, you’ll project it and with confidence.
Really good post Linda!
A good decision Bren 🙂 I’m also able to be confident in sweats, but for those who need that boost, clothes are an easy way to get it 🙂
Clothes make a huge difference to my levels of confidence. I know I’m the same person in sweats, but I don’t feel like the same person. Most of my clothes are casual these days, as I work from home, but they can still look good as well as be comfortable. I would say it feels good making as much effort for myself and my family as I do when going out but it’s really no more effort putting on smart clothes than sloppy ones 🙂
I think a lot of people think good looking clothes have to be uncomfortable, and don’t wear them because of that. Making an effort to look your best does feel good, especially on the rough days. You’re right, once you know what fits you, there’s no real effort to put them on.
Hi Linda
I agree, there are a number of factors you need to take into account, including your lifestyle and your “character” – some people like formal, some like casual, but you can still look neat and tidy whichever style you like and suits you.
Yes 🙂
I have a pair of jeans that I will not part with for anything, LOL! Every time I wear them I feel great and walking with a spring in my step!
With my favorite pair of shoes and handbag…girl I’m the queen of the world! LOL 😉
Hope you’re having a great weekend!
I used to have a pair like that, but I wore them out 😀 It’s good so far, hope you’re is great too 🙂
