I recently finished these. A pair of convertible mittens. I improvised the pattern from an idea I got when a co-worker showed me the mittens she got from her Icelandic mother-in-law. They’re made from leftover pieces of yarn, and they’re meant to be for me since I don’t have any proper mittens.
I’m pretty happy with the result, given that I had to triple up on a thinner, red yarn, in the end, to have enough. There’s just one thing I’m very annoyed about. I wasn’t able to wear them because I had managed to make two left ones.
Things like that make you feel stupid, and I still didn’t have a pair of proper mittens. I decided to try and move the thumb and that solved the problem.

I love convertibles. I’m always writing, or trying to turn a page, and in the winter months it’s great when you don’t have to let your hands out and freeze. I wish I knew how to make them…

Hello Linda,
I admire how you made this pair of mittens. However, I don’t have any idea on how to correct the other left one. Goodluck for that!

They weren’t hard to make. If you want me to, I’ll write up how I made these (but how to make one of each of course) 🙂

Thanks 🙂 I’ll probably have to get more yarn, and redo it from the thumb up.
