As the forty-fourth symbol, I chose the Vergina Sun, a symbol discovered in Greece in the 70’s with some controversy related to Macedonia. Before the 1970’s, the Vergina Sun was thought to be a simple ornament appearing in ancient Greek art and crafts from 700-300 BCE. After an archaeologist called it an “emblem of the Macedonian dynasty”, scientists and politicians have been arguing about who’s right. The background was painted in yellow and red with some splatter applied with the opposite colour.
