The third painting in my folklore series features the mountain trolls (bergtroll or bergrisar) from Scandinavian folklore. The mountain trolls are as old as the mountains themselves. Maybe that’s what you see when you see a face in the rock? There are many stories of women and men being “bergtatt”, taken into the mountain by trolls to be their wives and servants. The women that were the most at risk of this were women who had given birth to a child but weren’t married. But there are also stories of old trolls turning into stone, either with age or because they got hit by sunlight. The painting was made in acrylics on vinyl.
