My fifty-first symbol is the Shamash Sun from Mesopotamia. Shamash was a solar deity and the God of law, justice, and salvation in Babylonia and Assyria. He’s mentioned more than once in the Epic of Gilgamesh. One mention is that they pray and make an offering to Shamash in the direction of the rising Sun each morning for safe travel. The background was created by letting the colours blend under plastic wrap.
