Raven Emerging

I’m fortunate enough to live where we see Ravens off and on since I live in the mountains of Norway. We see them flying over the landscape and I think they’re beautiful as well as intelligent. It had been a long time since I last created a Raven. It was time for another, and this time I wanted to paint it.

I started it with only my fingers and paint and then finished it off with brushes and a touch of coloured pencil. I enjoy finger painting but I’m quite meticulous about my birds, so it needed some detail work. This Raven is flying with snow covered mountains in the background. I wanted it to gradually emerge, so I kept the details on the front of the bird, allowing the parts further back to be more abstract.

Having it on your wall will remind you to work towards your freedom. As someone said: It’s like it’s saying “Follow me!”.
