Today I want to give you a tip that will make it easier for you to start being creative on a regular basis. To actually get somewhere with your projects, even if you don’t have much time. My tip is:

Keep your tools and supplies where you can reach them

Keep them where they’re readily available when you get an idea, or when you have a moment to do some creating. That way you don’t have to spend a lot of time and energy to get them to where you can do something with them. If you keep them in a cupboard or a storage room, like I used to do, you really won’t use them often.

It’s just human nature we don’t do what’s difficult if we can avoid it. So make sure you have your tools and supplies where you can reach them easily.

Examples of storage solutions

There are lots of good storage solutions out there, these are just a few examples. You can use:

  • A hanging shoe organizer
  • A big bucket to which you add some fabric pockets
  • An old trolly
  • An old changing table
  • Toilet paper rolls stuffed in a cardboard box

And if you don’t have much floor space, you can hang it from the door, the ceiling, the curtain rod, or stack it high.

I choose to keep mine in a plastic tub until I finish the old wooden chest I have in the basement. That way I can really easily get to them from the room next door, which is the living room. I don’t have to unpack them, or go searching for what I need. It works really well for me, and I bet it will for you too.

So, keep them close at hand, and get creating.

Where do you keep your tools and supplies right now?

I need to catch up on blog posts, have been a little tired and therefore withdrawn lately 🙂 But I’m coming back out of my shell now!

Love the idea of keeping the tools handy. Nothing worse than having a brilliant idea and then having to scramble for half an hour before starting to work – by then the spark is gone.

Glad to see you back in the zone 🙂 We all have those ups and downs, when we withdraw.

That’s true. It’s also hard to finish things when you have to do a lot of work to get started.

I have a notepad on my nightstand just in case I have an idea for a blog post. I’ll make sure to write it down or even start a draft if I’m feeling especially creative :).

Great idea Linda! Hope you’re having a great day!

If I do that, I’ll never get enough sleep 😀 My day has been ok. I’m going to do some writing for Cackle Cackle Boom tonight, that will be a lot of fun.
