Today I’m going to rant a little bit about ignorance and intolerance.
I tolerate most people but there are a few things I don’t tolerate. I don’t tolerate racists, assholes and narcissists.
Since its Pride Week, I wanted to talk a little bit about tolerance because discriminating and bullying people because they’re different has to stop.
If you prefer to watch this on video, here it is. Otherwise, the post continues below it.
Some people might say “Oh you don’t know anything about bullying or discrimination” but I do. I was bullied for 11 years. I’ve been discriminated against at jobs. It’s not something that only happens to a certain group of people. But it has to stop.
You’re not supposed to get bullied or discriminated based on:
- nationality
- skin colour
- age
- appearance (height, weight, hair, clothes, glasses, blemishes etc.)
- disability (physical or other)
And you’re not supposed to discriminate people over:
- who their parents are
- their sexual orientation
- their gender definition
- their choice of relationship
- their religion
In this modern world, ignorance is a choice! We have access to all the information we could ever dream of.
Even if your parents raised you to be a racist asshole you don’t have to be one. It’s your choice to educate yourself on how the world works and create a new attitude for yourself.
I know most of my followers are accepting and tolerant people so maybe you should share this instead.
It’s not directed at you it’s directed at the people who haven’t realized that they can choose to be more including, to be more tolerant, to be more accepting of others. That they can relieve the world of hate.
To be more tolerant and accepting doesn’t mean that you have to do what they do or mean the same thing it means that you accept that everyone’s different. Not even twins are exactly the same. There are two people on this earth that are exactly the same.
Humans are different and we have to accept this.
I truly accept that people are different. The only things I don’t accept or people hurting people or animals and doing things without their consent (stuff like that). As long as it’s with informed, expressed consent between adults, and within the law, I’m fine with what you do as long as you don’t force it on others (that goes for beliefs too).
I wish all the people on this earth would accept that we are all different and that it’s ok
We all have different lives
We all have different tastes
We all have different feelings
We all have different personalities
We all look different
We all have different bodies and minds
We all have a different story
Many of my friends are outside the ‘A4/binary’ definition (that doesn’t really exist in reality). I have friends who are bi, lesbian, polyamorous, transgender, non-specified whatever they want to be that isn’t defined and I love my friends.
I don’t care about that little part, as in it has nothing to do with what I think of them. They’re lovely people so I like them. I treat people the way I get treated by them.
If people are assholes, I might be a bitch to them.
If you treat me like shit I might treat you like shit.
But if you’re nice, if you’re friendly, if you have a sense of humour we would probably get along just fine. No matter what age, gender, religion, whatever you are.
That’s my little rant for today. I just wanted to put my two cents in there and I hope you agree with me that we’re all different it’s ok, and we need to accept it.
I’m with you all the way on this (as I’m sure you know :-)), especially the part that it’s a choice. We have all the information at our fingertips. With only a little effort, we can learn to evaluate sources and sort out the crap from the reliable ones. Anyone who doesn’t – provided they’re from a developed country and have gone to school – doesn’t actually want to know.
I do know but it’s still good to hear 🙂 and yes, exactly!
So true. We should not rely on being spooned with information. It’s all available out there. Love the article.
Thanks for visiting and taking the time to comment 🙂
I stand the same fight as yours. We’re in the so-called “era of information” and yet a lot of people neglect this and still CHOOSE to be ignorant. I hate it. I hope this post of yours find more people and influence people to change their perspective about social issues.
Thank you. I hope it does too
Ignorance is definitely a choice and there is no excuse for it. Unfortunately there are still loads of assholes in the world
Yes, there are. Hopefully, society will evolve and the children will be better than their parents
