Imagery can have a profound effect on your life, they aren’t just pretty (or horrible) things to look at. There’s a lot of research into how images influence our mind, and how our minds can be manipulated by images. Your brain is built to make associations and visual input is a big part of that.
Images have been used to:
- Sway public opinion
- Influence elections
- Influence behavior
- Evoke emotions
- Direct your focus
- Even to change memories.
It still happens every day through media like videos and ads.
There’s less scientific attention on how images can do good, but it’s my experience that they can. They can inspire you to change things, to keep going, to stay focused. They can evoke feelings and memories, the list goes on.
Notice how you react to images this week, and not just the news. Notice how you feel when you look at art and TV-shows too. Think about it the next time you see a piece of art, whether it’s already on your wall, or it’s one you’re seeing for the first time.
What is that image doing for you?
How does it make you feel? Does it inspire you to do something? Does it bring back memories?
Pin this please 🙂
